The Basics

Whether you cruise around the fjord, fly overhead in a helicopter, or explore Fiordland National Park by coach, Milford Sound is unforgettable from all angles. Most tours of the fjord run from Queenstown or Te Anau, and also visit highlights such as Mitre Peak, Bowen Falls, and Mount Pembroke.

Fantastic!
Our coach and tour guide is Paulie. He is both an excellent driver and very knowledgeable tour guide. He gave very clear instructions to us and explained the reasons underlying each in a friendly, positive manner and made our 10-hour trip very comfortable. Together with the cruise skipper and staff, they made our journey once-in-a-lifetime experience deep in the heart on New Zealand. The only thing that can be improved is the lunch - if only warm food(s) can be included in the pack. Otherwise, I enjoyed the adventure very much!

Milford Sound Coach Tour with Lunch from Queenstown
We did the Milford Sound Coach tour on 30 December. Aside from the outrageous scenery, I found our Driver, Paul's commentary to be a highlight. He was informative, humorous and is clearly passionate about his job and the region. The coach was comfortable as was the vessel we cruised around the Sound on. The whole thing was well run and spot on for timings. The Venison pies at Te Anau are a must.

Milford Sound Coach and Scenic Cruise from Te Anau with Picnic Lunch
The tour was great and I would thoroughly recommend going to Milford Sound on the coach rather than by car. There were numerous stops on the way for photo opportunities and our guide Pradeep was fantastic, he gave a continuous informative commentary with humour thrown in. The packed lunch was substantial and tasty. Had a great day.

Leave your camera or phone or whatever inside with someone and go outside. You will get some truly spectacular views. If you think about what you are seeing, it's awesome. I am very glad to have done this.

Cruise Milford NZ Small Boutique Cruise Experience
Having booked a trip on a smaller ship was quite amazing instead, as at first, looking at larger ships I thought I should have booked a large ship trip - but the experience was opposite, we were able to go beneath the falls and stop on few places with Seals kittens. Next time I would surely go on these boutique cruise, the best experience.

Natural Wonders of Fiordland National Park

The journey to Milford Sound is just as impressive as the fjord itself, and photo opportunities abound along the Milford Road. Stop at Pop’s Lookout, Mirror Lakes, and Eglinton Valley; marvel at the views as you pass the Chasm and Homer Tunnel; and look out over Lake Wakatipu, Lake Te Anau, and the Remarkables mountain range.
