Abeno Harukas (Osaka Harukas)
The name Abeno Harukas comes from the Japanese word “harukasu,” which means "to brighten or to clear up," a sentiment appropriate to the unobstructed view visitors will see from the top. The observation deck, called Harukas 300, occupies the building's top three floors (floors 58 to 60) and is accessed by elevators from the 16th floor. With large floor-to-ceiling glass panels all around, the 60th floor offers 360-degree views of Osaka, while the 58th floor features an inner court with a wooden deck and café. You can skip the line by purchasing your admission ticket online in advance.
Things to Know Before You Go
Abeno Harukas is a must-visit for some of the best views in Osaka.
Part of the same complex, Abeno Harukas Kintetsu Department Store is the largest department store in Japan.
There is a rooftop plaza on the 16th floor of the department store’s wing building, which is free to access.
You’ll find a wide choice of restaurants on the 12th to 14th floors.
How to Get There
Abeno Harukas is conveniently located across from the JR Tennoji Station on the Midosuji Line and the Tanimachi Line on the Osaka subway system, as well as the Hankai Uemachi tram line and the JR Osaka Loop railway line. It is within walking distance of other major attractions, including the Osaka City Museum and Namba.
When to Get There
The Abeno Harukas observation deck is open from 9am to 10pm every day. Some of the best views can be had after dark, when the city is lit up below. Business hours vary for different sections of the department store, as well as restaurants.
Abeno Harukas Art Museum
On the 16th floor, next to the elevators leading to the observation deck, the Abeno Harukas Art Museum hosts exhibitions of mainly Western and Buddhist art that change every few months. The museum is open from 10am to 8pm and closed on Monday, or the following day if Monday is a national holiday.
