The Basics

Walking tours are a great way to experience Old Quebec, as its many sights, including the Château Frontenac and Dufferin Terrace, are best explored on foot. The area can also be seen by bike and even from the air. Those interested in experiencing the old city through its food can take a food tour and sample the best of many French-Canadian eats. Most Quebec City tours include a stop at the area’s Place Royale, which is considered the cradle of French civilization in North America.

Quebec City Sightseeing Tour
Daniel is a great driver and did a terrific job. The bus was an upgraded school bus, and the windows could have been cleaner. The bus had no handicapped accomodations whatsoever. Daniel and his guests deserve a modern bus!

Quebec city & Montmorency Falls 1 Day Tour
The tour guide was really nice but things got delayed due to a bunch of teenagers who came back late. The bus is clean and reasonably comfortable. Be prepared to visit the restroom before and after boarding the bus. Overall a decent experience.

Quebec city & Montmorency Falls 1 Day Tour
The trip was well organized, we had plenty of time for each activity and had a lot of free time at the old Quebec. Our tour guide Jean and driver Peter was charismatic and professional. It's the perfect method to go to Quebec city from Montreal. The bus was clean and comfy.

Discover Quebec With a Private 4-Hour City Tour
This was a great overview of both parts of the city and the close by outdoor attractions. Our driver Daniel was professional and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Quebec. It was primarily a driving tour but we were also able to walk to several places including the Citadel, Ile D’Orleans and spectacular Montmorency Falls. The green space , architecture and cleanliness of Quebec is truly impressive. Our van was spacious and clean and we all absolutely enjoyed our day.

Full-Day Quebec City and Cruise Tour
Vicky was our tour guide and she was very professional and kind. She was punctual and very thorough. She contacted me a day before the tour and informed everything we needed for the tour. They picked us up at the hotel and dropped us off at the end of the tour. The tour was on a comfortable and clean coach with an excellent driver. Quebec city was beautiful and looked like a scenery in a fairy tale.

When to Get There

Summer is the most popular time to visit Quebec City, and while the warm weather draws larger crowds, it also allows for al fresco dining and charming sidewalk cafés. The winter months are also full of activity and are quite beautiful if you don’t mind the cold—average winter temperatures are often below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (-6 Celsius).

Highlights of Old Quebec

The winding streets of Vieux Quebec are charming in their own right, but the old city’s many monuments and museums are not to be overlooked. Particularly picturesque are the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Quebec, La Citadelle, and the Place Royale. Also worth a visit are the nearby Plains of Abraham, a historic park and former battlefield, and the beautiful Montmorency Falls, on the Beaupré shore. These can all be visited easily in one day and are included in most Quebec City sightseeing tours.
