Old San Juan

5-11 Caleta de Las Monjas, Up on Hill Past San Juan Gate on the Paseo Del Morro Side, San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Basics

Old San Juan is a staple in city sightseeing tours, which offer an easy way to get an overview of the historic city and typically pass by other must-see sites such as La Fortaleza, the Capilla del Cristo, and the Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery. More tailored options include food tours and walking tours with a private guide, while Segway tours or cruises on San Jose Bay are also popular alternatives in San Juan.

The food tour was awesome, great experience to sample all type of local delicacy. You will be full in the end. It’s a must when visiting San Juan. Majorie who is our guide, she provided lots of history of Puerto Rico and stories. She was funny and excellent. She looked after the group well. Highly recommended!

Private Old San Juan Historic Discovery Experience
The trip to the waterfall included exquisite views and lush rain forest with stunning vegetation. The waterfall was breathtaking and a relatively short hike from the road. Our family enjoyed getting into the pool at its feet and under it. We recommend considering wearing a bathing suit or equivalent in order to maximize your visit. Then we came back and explored Old San Juan just enough to capture its flavor and peak our interest in a return visit for an even deeper experience.

Old San Juan Walking Tour
We loved hearing the history of San Juan. We wish we had visited Old San Juan at the beginning of our trip instead of the end or better yet that we had stayed there.

Instagramable Places in Old San Juan Shared Tour
Ian did a wonderful job showing us all of the beautiful highlights of Old San Juan. He was patient and accommodating and very informative. He also stopped and allowed us to take as much time as we need to take pictures! It was well worth the money.

Flavors of Old San Juan Food Tour
Wonderful tour and amazing food! Valentina was very knowledgeable and personable. The tour doesn't only focus on the food, but touches on the specific history of Old San Juan and how it connects to the cuisine, which I appreciated. You end up eating an entire meal's worth of food, so you can skip an adjacent meal, though my husband and I did go back to one of the stops to get drinks in lieu of dinner. Overall a great value and I would definitely recommend.

Lismar was exceptional! She knew everything about everything! The tour took us on a perfect walk around important landmarks of Old San Juan. Be prepared to walk up the inclines throughout the tour. Lismar was super nice and very energetic. She was a joy from the very beginning.

Great tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and considerate. We enjoyed the tour very much and would recommend it to anyone wanting to see Old San Juan. Only thing I would add is to include some time as the forts.

Other San Juan Neighborhoods

Old San Juan is perhaps the best-known of Puerto Rico's San Juan neighborhoods, but it's far from the only one. Venture slightly farther afield to upscale Miramar, home to two marinas; make your way to Condado, known for beachside condos; or stop in at Ocean Park, where you'll find some overlooked but beautiful beaches.
