Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Depart from your Playa del Carmen, Cancun, or Tulum hotel to begin your aquatic adventure with gentle marine giants. Board a comfortable vessel and set sail with your small group to explore the Yucatan Peninsula, one of the only places in the world where you can share the water with whale sharks.

Observe the calm waters surrounding Isla Contoy, Holbox, and Isla Mujeres for whale sharks, then once you’ve spotted one, don your snorkeling gear and plunge into the iridescent water to snorkel alongside the fascinating fish. Glide resplendently beside the incredible creatures, watching them feast upon microscopic plankton while enjoying the tropical temperatures of the Yucatan’s water.

Return to the boat and relax as you cruise towards the silken sands of Isla Mujeres, to a blissful beach known as Playa Norte. Recline upon the white sands and swim in the glittering turquoise waters before feasting upon a delicious lunch of traditional Mexican dishes. Naturalists will delight in the abundance of bird and marine species on the island.

Back on the boat, listen as your onboard biologist regales with fascinating facts about the local wildlife. Information on how to safely interact with marine life will also be provided to ensure your safety and security at all times.

The small number limit of 10 participants ensures an intimate and enjoyable experience on the Mexican Whale Shark Snorkel Adventure.

The Captian was a hero

The sharks were amazing. Our guide was fantastic. I also had my faith restored in humanity when the catain made the decision to render aid to steanded boat. We took on 5 passengers shared food and water. Many other boats passed refusing to help. Even though it slowed our tour down the rendering of aid reminded me to offer thanks for my blessings.

Very cool, once in a lifetime opportunity. The crew was polite and served very delicious ceviche. The whales are enormous, quite worth it.

Our guide (Elias) was excellent and the experience was something I’ll always remember. Do this while you can, as they’re becoming more endangered and the opportunity might not last. Also, great value.

Couple things I wish I knew. 1) 90 minutes each way 2) can’t wear sunblock to protect sharks 3) some will have to sit in the sun 4) wear long sleeve pants to protect yourself 4) chaotic when you get there We did see sharks

This was a great experience my husband and I loved every second of it! Don’t recommend if your afraid of open water because you are in the middle of the ocean snorkeling lol But we had a blast. The captain, tour guide, marine guide and driver wear great! 10/10 will book this again next time!

Wonderful experience even if the weather wasn’t.

Amazing experience even if our weather was not fantastic. The waves were rough and choppy and we had rain and thunder. If you’re not an amazing swimmer or in case your weather is bad, I would 100% recommend getting the video!! They get better footage of what you’re there to see and you’re too busy trying to keep up with the shark to try and take your own video/photos. They also recommend motion sickness medicine. DO IT!! We all took it and only one guy was sick but it was because he swallowed a bunch of salt water. After he barfed he was fine though. The lunch was delicious and fresh. Marcella and her team were amazing!! She was fun and informative. Our captain was fantastic and maneuvered our boat in a way we weren’t slamming down on our butts the entire time. Would definitely recommend this trip but be mindful they are not in control of the weather or if you do or don’t see sharks or how many you will see!!

Once in a life time experience.

This was a great trip. There were a lot of whale sharks in the water. As a result, we could have multiple dives in very close proximity to the spectacular mammals. If you get sea sick, this may not be the best trip for you, but otherwise, highly recommend it.
