Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your Hobart sailing tour starts as you hop aboard your sleek racing yacht and set off along the River Derwent. While you witness what it takes to operate an ocean yacht like this, you can help the crew trim the sails and grind the winches, if you wish. Or just relax and admire the passing scenery, from the Hobart cityscape to views of Mt Wellington.

Head toward the Iron Pot lighthouse, and watch for wildlife like seals and dolphins. Then enjoy stories from your skipper about previous sailing adventures over morning or afternoon tea featuring gourmet Tasmanian items. Your tour ends when you return to the departure point.

When booking, select either the morning tour, which operates from October to March, or the afternoon tour from April to September.
Pass By:
Sailors will see the beautiful city of Hobart, its historic docks and surrounding mountains and forests from the large sheltered harbour. Sometimes there will be other yachts racing on the harbour and sometimes we will be visited by curious dolphins and seals. Very occasionally we will see whales and orca. Sailors will experience what it is really like sailing aboard a large ocean going yacht and they can take turns on the winches or even try their hand at the wheel if they like.

Great company
, Sep 2020
We had a very relaxing and informative experience. It was like we had known the crew much longer than just meeting them. We all shared our life stories we had lived in the same area in years past and when it was finished it was like we had a trip on the river with old friends

It was great sailing with you and working out all our mutual friends and relatives (we are Tasmanians after all). Looking forward to sailing with you again soon.

Baz and his friendly crew made our day! Their knowledge and passion for all things Hobart quickly became evident and was contagious. A really exhilarating and exciting afternoon out on the water, in a beautiful craft with a top team. Highly recommended!

Best afternoon at sea you can get

This trip was fantastic, perfect sailing, perfect company and great stories. We sailed around the bay reaching 10 knots and learn all about the history of Tasmania including loads of fun facts about the shore. Recommend it to all.

We were sailing on the Derwent for 3 hours. The crew -- Barry & Jimmy -- were outstanding. They gave us a detailed description of the yacht, what we were about to experience, explained sailing terminology & we both had time behind the wheel steering. Towards the end the bikies & cheese-- gourmet Tassie style -- with a couple of glasses of Chardonnay just topped of a memorable afternoon. Experience not to be missed, particularly with this crew. Many thanks B & J. DARYL HOCKING

Performance Sailing in Hobart
, Jan 2020
Don't be misled, Derwent River is actually the Hobart harbor (just tradition). Barry and crew were outstanding! We spent a wonderful morning sailing the harbor, seeing and hearing about the great place know as Hobart. We were literally wined and dined (some of the best cheese in the world is from Tasmania) along great stories, wonderful humor and exciting day of sailing. To top it off we learned that this boat (63') participated in the famous Sydney to Hobart race along with her skipper. If you want a really memorable experience in Hobart we would recommend it.

Wonderful experience

We had a day to remember & excellent company. Both Mark (Owner) and Jimmy were amazing, Their friendliness and wonderful tales of high adventure added to the day. Perfect weather, although it would have been nicer to have more of a wind. Would highly recommend this adventure for anyone wanting to add to their bucket list.

Such a wonderful experience! A lovely crew made it special. We had the boat to ourselves and they were very professional, respectful, courteous and it was most informative for my son. I recommend parking in the all day car park behind the art school and if you cant find the actual jetty the tourist info pier were very helpful. A luxurious way to spend the afternoon!

I had an amazing time out on the Derwent River with the crew on this yacht. As the holder of the world's weakest stomach I was petrified that I would suffer from motion sickness, but it was smooth sailing all the way through to the end. Fabulous food, amazing views, and an exceptional crew make this an experience you won't want to miss. This at the top of my 'to-do' list the next time that I am in Hobart.
