Bay of Fires

Dave was the tour guide and his knowledge but more importantly the way he involved everybody ( there were 12 people ) was exceptional. Dave was a real entertainer and made sure that we had plenty of time to enjoy the Lavender Farm , rain forest the Bay of Fires and the oyster farm We had a fantastic day and he was without doubt the best tour guide we have ever had. We loved Dave's relaxed approach and how he made you feel "at home" from the moment you stepped on the bus. He remembered all of our names and had people interacting with each other.

Don't book this tour

The Bay of Fires is stunning but if you want to spend any time at the Bay of Fires don't book this tour. You have about an hour at the Bay of Fires out of a 10 hour day. Yes it does take a couple of hours to get to the Bay of Fires from Launceston but most of the day is taken up with activities which are a waste of time. We spent nearly an hour at a lavender farm with the guide explaining every species of lavender, we also went to a forest where the guide spent a long talking about plants. We had lunch at a beach which wasn't that nice and then rushed off Bay of Fires to do a 45 minute walk along another beach which wasn't even that nice. Don't book this tour if you want to see the Bay of Islands.

The small group allows for a more personalised & flexible experience. Wonderfully picturesque & informative with endless photo opportunities from clear beaches to ancient forests & lavender hills. The oyster farm topping off a great day out. :-) Note : Just be sure to go before the harvest around the 1st week of February as we just missed out on seeing the vast purple carpet of Lavender flowers......still worth a visit for the views & the gift shop though

An experience to treasure

I went on this excursion to The Bay of Fires with my daughter. We would like to express that it was the most amazing experience that we have had in Tasmania and I so thankful I booked this particular tour grateful to David, our guide/driver who was so informative, having so much knowledge in the geology, history of Tasmania, the agriculture, wildlife, etc. We had some great stops on the way, which broke up the journey. The first stop was to a Lavender farm which was lovely, we then went into the rain forest - i don’t want to say too much as I would not like to spoil the surprise but I will use one word “magical! We then headed to The Bay of Fires, my goodness it is hard to describe the beauty, white sand beaches crystal clear waters, giant burnt orange boulders. We could not stop taking photographs of the beaches, the boulders the sea and the trees. David gave us so much information in the marine life, his knowledge is unparalleled. We also took a walk on a amazing stretch of beach and on the way home we stopped at an Oyster farm and tasted the most freshest local oysters, I am now an Oyster convert! What an amazing unforgettable experience, I cannot express how lucky we were and having the added bonus of David as the tour guide. It is a memory my daughter and I will have for ever, thank goodness we have lots of photos of our day to treasure.

Excellent knowledge from David. Day was ok considering we didn't have great weather - not his fault. I was say, check the weather beforehand as it affects the experience in a big way. Beautiful places and especially loved the Bay of Fires.

Flexible and enjoyable

My friend and I were the only 2 booked to the Bay of Fires the day we went. David, our guide was very flexible and considerate in what we did and where we went. Having some limitations to the terrain I can walk on meant things like the 1km walk wasn't going to work for us. David kindly found us other scenic views to enjoy, making up for the time the walk would have taken. A very enjoyable trip. David is a big talker. So be prepared to hear all about every aspect of Tasmania. A very worth while tour. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary.
