Stand near the front lobby doors and wait for your Tour Guide.
Your full-day tour of Oregon’s northern coast starts with morning hotel pickup in downtown Portland. Be sure to grab your coffee and breakfast for the ride to Neahkahnie Point, an amazing spot to look for whales and where you can see miles of Oregon's coastline. Disembark in Manzanita where you can spend time on the beach or explore the quaint boutiques in their downtown.

Next, head to Short Sand Beach where you embark on a short walk through old-growth forest before arriving at a beautifully secluded sandy beach.

Then head into Cannon Beach for some antiquing and lunch (own expense) before continuing to Haystack Rock. Walk out to Haystack’s base (if the tide is out), explore tide pools and glimpse scurrying sea creatures.

Then enjoy some free time to walk along the beach, warm up with locally-roasted coffee, and peruse the town’s eclectic shops and art galleries. Your return trip stops at Camp 18, a historical logging museum that provides a window into Oregon’s timber industry. Arrive back at your Portland hotel in the evening.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Camp 18 Museum
Those who want to learn more about logging history in the northwest, or who simply are curious about vintage logging machinery, will find plenty of material at Camp 18. Outdoor displays include multiple steam donkeys such as a Dolbeer single spool, a very early first-generation model, to a high-tech late-model Willamette compound geared yarder that was the height of technology for its day. Other displays on site include a large bandsaw from a sawmill, a self-propelled Ohio steam crane, Caterpillar-style tracked vehicles that worked in the woods, a railroad skeleton log car and other heavy equipment plus a wide variety of large and small hardware. We will make a quick stop here on our way to the spectacular Oregon Coast so that you can explore the historic equipment, use the restroom, and buy some coffee if you want.

Best Oregon Coastline tour

Adam was fantastic! I truly appreciated his narration throughout the trip about cultural and geological history of Oregon. The tour was very accommodating and we got to see tide pools and spend a lengthy time at the beach. Best tour during my trip by far.

Jeff was very friendly and helpful. He brought us to some “secret” spots for photo ops and to enjoy the views the coast has to offer. He went out of his way to make everyone comfortable and make the trip enjoyable. Will definitely comment the trip and Jeff to everyone!

fun!

Our tour guide Jeff was very accommodating and great. He had all kinds of vignettes either about the history of where we were or personal experience in Oregon. He always offered to help us take group photos and communicated very clearly what we were doing and what our options were. He took us to very nice locations, some of which that were only known by the locals. Very nice tour! I highly recommend seeing the west coast and doing something beyond the stereotypical water falls and Mt. Hood tours.

Adam was very courteous, kind, and a bundle of knowledge about the history of the area, culture, people, etc. He took us to some bonus spots off the beaten path for extraordinary views. I mentioned wanting to see elk, and he made that happen too! This tour is a must, and ask for Adam!

A great day traveling through the Oregon coast

This tour gets 5 stars. Our guide and driver Norman was awesome, he pointed out every spot along the way where we could see the unique scenery that the Oregon coast has to offer. We spent plenty of time at each spot with ample time to have lunch at Cannon Beach. My favorite stops were Ecola State Park and Oswald West State Park where we hiked on a very easy path down to the beach. I had an amazing time and I would recommend this tour to anyone in the Portland area!

Long day - missed opportunities
Paul_G
, Oct 2021
In all fairness, this tour does take you to 3.5 memorable places on the beautiful Oregon coast. But it’s hard to justify a 9.5 hour day in which 70% is spent sitting in a van and 15% is “free time to find your own lunch (70 min) or look at the surfers (35 min). just saw so many missed opportunities, namely because the driver was unable to “talk” about things both along the journey or when asked a question. Even the drop-off spots were not well-planned, especially at Cannon Beach where you were dropped off at the “wrong end” of the scenic beach and had to choose (or run) between the natural attractions and fending for lunch in town before the bus left again. I also can’t help think that we missed a lot of interesting stops instead of driving for an hour to get ice cream. Hard to recommend this tour.
icon Response from Host , Oct 2021
Hi Paul, I apologize for the unpleasantness of your tour. I will be meeting with your guide from that day to make sure he understands our expectations for how the tours should run. I would like to talk to you about your experience, please feel free to email me at jamie@americashubworldtours.com. Thank You
