This activity will end right where it started.Pick-up is offered from most hotels, guesthouses and cruise ports in the capital area upon request (if option is selected). Depart your central Reykjavik hotel or Reykjavik cruise port by air-conditioned coach and venture into Iceland’s starkly beautiful interior of rugged peaks, pastures and volcanic plains.

Take in panoramic views of the plant that harnesses the area’s natural propensity for generating power, and hear how it produces renewable energy for more than half of Reykjavik's population.

Continue from here along the famous Golden Circle, the sightseeing route that showcases three of Iceland’s most spectacular natural wonders.

Stop by at Thingvellir National Park, a region of untouched beauty steeped in ancient history. Learn how it’s home to the original, outdoor site of Iceland’s first parliamentary assembly, the Althingi, that began in 930, and see the extraordinary Thingvellir rift, where the tectonic plates of America and Eurasia face each other over a narrow valley.

Snap photos as your guide explains how the plates are gradually pulling apart, and then continue to the Gullfoss waterfall. Marvel at the double-tiered falls and, with luck, catch sight of one of the famous rainbows that forms in the mists.

Next, visit the incredible geothermal region of Geysir, known for its hot springs and geysers. Take in the bubbling pools and steam vents, and see Strokkur, a waterspout that shoots to around 98 feet (30 meters) in the air.

Your tour then ends back at the original start point in Reykjavik.

Golden Circle Route
Get into the history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park, witness the powerful beauty of a multi-tiered waterfall at Gullfoss and walk among bubbling geothermal pools at Geysir Geothermal Area.
Duration: 7 hours

Stop At:
Thingvellir National Park
Learn about some of the thrilling and somewhat gruesome history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park. It’s significance is so great that it is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll walk the grounds where Icelandic democracy began and visit sites where Viking-era justice was carried out including the Drowning Pool and the Gallows Rock. Thingvellir is also the place where two tectonic plates are gradually separating creating a gorgeous landscape of steep cliffs and broad fields featuring Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Geysir
The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Free
Stop At:
Strokkur
While the Great Geysir erupts only occasionally these days, the last time being in 2016, nearby geyser Strokkur erupts regularly delighting onlookers by shooting hot water high into the air every few minutes.
Duration: 1 hour
Admission Ticket Free
Stop At:
Gullfoss Waterfall
The most popular waterfall in Iceland is, without a doubt, Gullfoss (the golden falls). And that is saying quite a lot in a country that is home to thousands of waterfalls. Gullfoss is also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Iceland and it is certainly one of the largest. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls and there are several paths available around the waterfall including one leading down to its bottom so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera at the ready.

Not enough time to explore the places

The company combined 2 trips which meant we had to rush around the stops as then had to drop the secret lagoon trip off at 3pm didn't get back til 5pm You can't eat on the bus but there is very little time for you to eat at the stops. There is very little to see between the 3 stops. So alot of information about Iceland to fill in for the lack of things to see. The water falls are amazing but a section was shut. It was very cold so couldn't find places to eat our own food as not allowed on the bus. The geysir is just a couple of small geysir not the actual big one as it is dormant. We had 45 mins one stop and then an hour at each of the others. This was for looking round, beverages and toilet break. Left at 9.00 got back at 5pm so 8 hours and 5 of them are travelling

Even thought the weather wasn't the best, it didn't detract from the tour. We had a great time at each stop and lets you see the parts of the country you can't see from your hotel room. Fabulous landscapes and each stop had good facilities. Well worth it. Day flew by and make sure you take plenty of photographs.

Iceland has so much beauty to offer!

Our guide was excellent--he kept us entertained with facts and information not only about our stops, but also about Iceland and its history. We were out during a pretty rainy and overcast day, but still thoroughly enjoyed all that we saw! Had it not been so rainy, we would have explored more of Thingvellir National Park--but this gives us a reason to go back! Our only "complaint" is that the bus we were in was very tight and warm. I know it seems silly to complain about the bus being warm when it was cold and rainy out--but when you are riding for a few hours and bundled up in sweaters, it gets hot!
