I loved my experience with Island Journeys. Luis was a great guide and driver. I felt completely at ease as a solo traveler, and the communication with the company was great. I agree with previous reviews to BUY SOMETHING and GO TO THE BATHROOM at the fruit stand. And get a smoothie. Holy crap, that was amazing. Your shoes will be completely soaked. I had an old pair of gym shoes and socks that were both almost ready to be thrown out. I did end up throwing them both out. Bring a towel, change of clothes, and extra shoes!

Sliding down the rainforest.

The water slides were beautiful, exciting and fun. Our guides in the rain forest were knowledgeable and friendly. The meal between the rain forest and the biopay was tasty and fairly priced. The kayak to the bio bay was exciting but we left late and missed sunset.
Fun, exercise with a fun water fall ending 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Our tour guides were amazing and proud to have strong Latinas to guide us and take care of us !!! Tips: bring sneakers that you are ok with getting tossed or muddy, water shoes aren’t the best if they don’t have grip or fit big, my water shoes were slippery in the mud and rocks and one came off in the mud…. Overall, have fun!

Fun Experience

Beautiful scenery, fun guides, waterslides, and swinging rope! I highly recommend El Yunque tour. I do not highly recommend Bio Bay tour for experienced kayakers/canoers.
Worth it only for the nature
, May 2021
The whole trip was a mixed bag. There were a lot of cons to our trip which was from 9 AM to 11 PM +. First it took 4 hours between pickup and time we got to the forest. We stopped to pick up so many people outside San Juan. Up long winding gated communities. The first stop at the roadside store had yummy food. I highly suggest getting the chicken and rice plate rather than a smoothie. The sugar will dehydrate you. The rainforest trip wasn’t an official trip to El Yunque, but rather to the outskirts. After hurricane Maria the forest hasn’t reopened. The rainforest was cool, but more so a walk just to the river. At the river the water holes, jumping, and swimming was amazing! The only problem was the guides. They were so patronizing and flat out rude sometimes to certain people (non white). It was basically “so jump here” “no here” and they would roll their eyes. It was also annoying having the life jackets throughout the forest walk. When we got to the dinner place they were rude and said “really that’s all you’re going to eat?”, and said we should be starving by the end of the walk. We were fine and felt it was just a money grab because the restaurant was very expensive but not very good. The kayak tour was beautiful but again the guides were either completely unhelpful or seemed annoyed. So many people crashed into the mangroves and got cut up by trees and the guides laughed. Overall, it was worth it to see the nature but maybe with a different tour. It was also embarrassing to be with a group of 25+ people with advanced degrees and treated like children.
