Not worth the money but fine if you have nothing else to do
, May 2022
The 30 minute kayak through the river was beautiful. It was pretty buggy but lovely. Might be a better experience at a different time of year. A lot of people recommended Mosquito Bay but takes more planning. This trip was overall not worth the money. It was fine. If you have a positive attitude it is good. But do not expect ground breaking glowing. This was very much a tourist trap
Pitch black
, May 2022
For us to have kids it would have been nice to know that it was going to be pitch black so parents beware my teenager liked it tho and the dinoflag bioluminescence only worked when we had a tarp over our heads to see them other than that Omar was the best helping us through the struggle of paddling with my 7yr old and Gabriel was funny that made it enjoyable

It too dark, and if its your first time kayaking, dont do it at night. Do it during the day. I would recommend.

Would NOT recommend
, May 2022
The kayaks did not have glass bottoms. They made you put a tarp over top of you to view the bioluminescence. There was barely any bioluminescence at all. The bugs were awful. Would not recommend
Magic in the mangroves
, Apr 2022
The experience of kayaking through the peaceful mangrove canal and emerging into the expansive bay was magical! I loved paddling around the cove as the sun set and then re-learning the constellations. Our guides were funny and informative about the nature reserve and the cool glowing phytoplankton. It wasn’t like Avatar—much more subtle but still a pretty wonder. I highly recommend the early evening tour so your can see the bay at sunset!
Chill Times
, Apr 2022
This was a relaxing and unique kayaking experience, made better by the jokes and educational material provided by the guides. We went on the night of a new moon and were able to see the bioluminescence without tarps after the sun set. The glow is different than the pictures I had seen, but still really cool and unlike anywhere else. We also really just enjoyed kayaking around through the mangroves and on the lake. Overall it was a great time, but more for a combination of reasons (the kayaking, the guides, and the glow) as opposed to just the bioluminescence. As a heads up, there is a lot of waiting around. I understand the traffic concerns coming from Old San Juan, but we got picked up three hours before our trip, which is a lot. The ride and picking everyone up took an hour and a half or so and then we waited around in a parking lot until our time.

Paid for a glass bottom kayak and was placed in regular one. Unfortunately the moon was too bright and we had to pull a tarp over our heads to see the glow. I would have liked to know that bit of information before booking. It would have changed our plans

Great time
, Mar 2022
It was a fun experience! We had great tour guides! The added bonus of the constellations was very cool! Seeing the bioluminescents under us as we were kayaking through the canal was cool!
The moon was bright and the dinoflagellates were hiding
, Mar 2022
The outfitter was great. The guys funny and helpful. The reason for my three stars? The moon! We shouldn’t have booked this with a full moon. We got under a sweaty tarp with a bunch of other tourists and we saw the dinoflagellates. But it was odd that we had to wear our mask to prevent Covid while filling out our waiver (out of doors), but then we got under a big tarp with two dozen people and breathed their air for 10-15 mins. I’m vaxxed and boosted, but the whole thing was odd. Nice kayak journey but meh on the luminescence. Save your $$ if the moon is full. Light pollution kinda mangles the experience.
Bioluminous water kayak
, Feb 2022
Good clear night sky . Bioluminous is very minimum . No need to book glass bottom kayak . Regular is good enough
