Explore the incredible marine life near Vancouver during this half-day whale watching cruise in search of orcas and much more. If you’re a nature lover or simply looking for a way to immerse yourself in the scenic beautiful of the western coast of Canada, this excursion is a great option.

Start your whale watching trip with pickup from select Vancouver hotels or by meeting at Steveston Village where your boat departs. A shuttle transports guests from nine convenient hotel locations in Vancouver, and free parking is available for those arriving by car. Depending on the option you select, your cruise may leave in morning or afternoon. Check with your tour operator during reconfirmation on your exact schedule.

Then climb aboard your sleek, modern whale watching vessel. The high-speed zodiacs used on the trip offer both an open-air deck and a covered cabin, ensuring a comfortable ride no matter the conditions. On-board hydrophones also allow you the chance to hear the whale calls of any orcas encountered along the way, and handy photo ID charts help you identify different species of animal.

Soon your boat cruises out into the waters of coastal British Columbia. The area for your excursion is renowned for the killer whale pods that come to feed on the spawning salmon in the area between May and October each year. During your ride, listen as the naturalist shares insights into orca behavior, and helps you spot for a variety of creatures. Three pods of killer whales, totaling around 80 animals, reliably return to this area annually, making it more likely you have a sighting. Keep your eyes peeled for the orca old-timer named ‘Granny,’ who many believe is more than 100 years old.

Guaranteed whale sightings or your next trip is free.

We saw seals and one whale briefly In 3.5 hour trip - very disappointed- were given vouchers for a free future trip- we were only in area for one day -

Our whale sighting success is 85-90%. However these are animals in their natural habitat, and their behaviour is unpredictable. You did happen to be on a tour that saw a whale, however we do strive to provide a whale sighting experience. In this situation we do provide our passengers with a free return-pass that never expires.

Great Experience!!! Saw several whales!

The experience was amazing. We saw two orca pods T101 and T134. It seems as if the whales were performing for us. The came up close to the boat and lept out of the water several times. Bring binoculars and a good camera with zoom and video. Will do again! Definitely worth it and we we were out on the water an extra hour watching the whales! Staff and crew extremely nice and knowledgable.

Thank you for sharing your amazing experience! At Vancouver Whale Watch we emphasize conservation while maintaining a fun and professional atmosphere. We observes the guidelines established by the Pacific Whale Watch Association (PWWA). We are allowed to get within 200 meters from Transient Killer Whales and 100 meters for Humpback Whales. At this distance you get an excellent view of the whales.

We found the entire experience positive and client-focused. The online reservation process worked smoothly and the exchanges of waiver & Covid declarations worked well for the multiple folks in our party. On the water Sue was engaged with and available to all the passengers.

The boat ride was fun and guide was friendly and knowledgable. Did not have sight of whale though, probably how nature has its way. The tour issued complimentary non expiring tickets for future tour. Will see that materializes or not .

Vancouver Whale Watch works with a network of whale watching operators and share sighting information; this gives us a sighting success rate of 95%. Guests can see a variety of wildlife including Orcas, Humpback Whales, Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, Porpoises, Bald Eagles and more. As these animals are in their natural environment every tour is a different experience. Vancouver Whale Watch guarantees a whale sighting. Should you not see a whale (Orca or Humpback), come again for free until you do, for life, no expiry.

I would really recommend using this company if you are looking for a whale watching experience in Vancouver. The bus driver Levi is great at providing interesting and funny stories about the city on the journey to and from Steveston. The guides on the boat are also really informative and tell you all about the animals that you see. Unfortunately on the day I originally booked the tour we did not see any whales however the company gave everyone their tickets back so that we could rebook for free if we had any spare days in Vancouver or if we ever came back to the city (the tickets last for life). Luckily I had a spare day so rebooked and was able to see some orcas! I found this to be a really generous touch from the company and I was very happy to come back and spend another day with them.

Thank you for choosing Vancouver Whale Watch! We appreciate your kind words about our knowledgeable staff. We are happy to hear that you used your free return pass and saw killer whales! Every trip is different as these are unpredictable animals traveling in the wild. In addition to whales and breathtaking scenery, we also see eagles, sea lions, seabirds and various wildlife.

A memorable day on the Ocean.

We saw the Wales up close a mother and a younger male, it was amazing to hear the sounds they make and to watch them diving and flipping their huge tails into the air, the mother was as long as the boat we were in. I was happy to see that the tour boats would move away as soon as the Whales got too close, safer for the Whales and us.
